DREAMS AND DESIGN FOR A CURE
The BAT 11 is the dream of its creator, local client Gary Kaberle. The BAT 11 is the fourth design in the BAT series of automobiles. Gary’s purpose is to dedicate this car to his wife, Deborah, who passed on from breast cancer in the early 1990’s. He hopes the new design of the car will make a difference in the fight for breast cancer and all cancers. Perhaps his story will make people aware that individuals who value collector cars understand the meaning of beauty, hope, and faith and survival. Gary’s story started in 1963 when he purchased the Alfa Romeo BAT 9d from a car dealership in Greenville, Michigan. He owned his BAT for nearly 30 years before he sold it to help finance treatment for Deb’s battle with breast cancer. Over the years, Gary has become the world’s expert on the BAT Car Series.

HISTORY of the BAT 11
The three original BAT (Berlina Aerodinamica Technica) vehicles were built by Nuccio Bertone of Torino, Italy and designed by Franco Scaglione for Bertone. Scaglione is credited as being one of the premier aerodynamic stylists in auto history.

• BAT 5 built in 1953
• BAT 7 built in 1954
• BAT 9 built in 1955

The BAT 11
Gary is often asked to speak about Franco Scaglione and his work. In 2006, he took his dream to Stile Bertone in Caprie, Italy and Alfa Romeo in Arese. They both liked the idea and today it stands as a mock up. It has been shown twice:
Geneva, Switzerland in March 2008 and in Meadowbrook in Rochester Hills, MI in August 2008.
