In addition to vintage carriages, automobiles, bicycles, and motorcycles, The Buffalo Transportation/Pierce-Arrow Museum displays an extensive collection of “automobilia” to document the history of transportation in Western New York. Paintings, photographs, porcelain pieces, bronze sculptures, signs, ephemera, auto clothing, toys, and much more represent the passion that artists and craftsmen had for the new form of transportation.

Many Museum visitors know of relatives or friends that were employed in the Western New York auto industry. The Museum welcomes any information about people who may have worked at Pierce, Thomas, etc. Most actual employee records have been lost or destroyed, therefore, the Museum has indexed names of Pierce Arrow employees that appear in the factory newsletter, “The Arrow,” (1918 to 1922) and other sources and can search these databases for names that are provided. We collect stories and recollections about employees. When visiting the Museum please mention any connection you may have to Pierce or other auto companies.

The Museum sincerely appreciates the generosity of many who have graciously donated unique pieces of history to enable the Museum to illustrate the transportation history story. Much has been lost or discarded but unusual pieces have also been saved. Examples on display include a Pierce employee baseball uniform, a clock used in the factory, sketches of monograms, and much more. If you have items you would like to donate we would be happy to accept them. Whether the item becomes part of the Museum collection is at the discretion of the Museum. If you prefer not to donate, we would like to copy or photograph items so we can continue to preserve transportation history for future generations. We are interested in many auto and transportation items, including factory badges, horns, lamps, original artwork, signs, lithographs, photographs, ads, hood ornaments, company uniforms, factory sales brochures, factory artifacts, trophies, awards, postcards, etc. or just about anything original produced by Thomas, Pierce-Arrow, etc. Please contact us at piercemuseum@roadrunner.com or call 716-853-0084 if you have information to share or wish to donate an item.
